Wyoming Cabin Association

The Wyoming Cabin Association was formed to promote the social welfare and well-being of existing cabin owners, former owners or individuals interested in cabin ownership that reside in Wyoming.

Primary activities of this organization will include:

(1) Outreach to Cabin Owners

(2) Establishing a membership base for the Association and establishing effective forms of communications to our membership, via a web site, e-mail communications, phone communications or printed materials.

3) Determine what issues, problems or concerns Wyoming cabin owners (current, past or potential cabin owners) have across the state.

Secondary activities of this organization will be to communicate with, better understand and advocate for Wyoming cabin owners (present, past, and future); on laws, legislation and restrictions that may affect their cabin permits that exist on federal or state lands.

George was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and attended the University of Wyoming. He spent close to 40 years in the Wyoming Education System primarily in Elementary Education. He and his wife have had a cabin in the the Big Horn Mnts. outside of Buffalo for 35 years. Since retiring from education they operate a small cattle ranch at the base of the Big Horns where his wife grew up. “I am excited about serving you as your president. I am sure we won’t be facing anything as major as the Cabin Fee Act, however, if there is anything that I can do to help, please let me know. I am sure there will be new challenges ahead of us in the various Forest Service Tracks around Wyoming.”

David grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming where he fell in love with the Big Horn Mountains. He attended the University of Wyoming and Creighton U School of Medicine where he met his wife, Julie Shibata Fall a native of Basin, Wyoming. They have been practicing pediatrics in Gillette since 1984. They purchased their cabin in the Big Horns close to Meadowlark lake in 2000. They have three children who, also, love the mountains. “The only reason they ever visit is to spend time at the cabin!” David has been on numerous boards over the years. He served 16 years on his local school board and is currently a Trustee on the Board of Directors for the University of Wyoming. Go Pokes!

Marilynn Ward grew up in Worland, Wyoming. The Big Horn Mountains were a very big part of her life. She and her husband Jock have two daughters living in Gillette, Wyoming and three granddaughters. Their careers were spent in the school system in Campbell County. They are now retired and live in Buffalo, Wyoming and enjoy a cabin on the Middle Fork of Clear Creek. “As the new secretary of WCA, I will strive to help keep you informed on issues regarding our cabins that are on forest leases. Our dilemma now is that a man has staked mining claims in and around our cabin area”.

Cathy and her husband have enjoyed their cabin in the Big Horn Mountains since 2000. Born and raised in Missouri, Cathy has lived in Wyoming for the past 23 years. As a retired CPA, she has served as treasurer of many organizations and will be diligent in tracking the funds of the Wyoming Cabin Association.

Janet lives in Cheyenne, WY, where she spends time with her horses, miniature donkey and several dogs and cats. She has had a rewarding 30 year career as a General Contractor/Real Estate Developer and a CPA. An avid big game hunter, bird hunter, fly fisherwoman, and trap shooter, Janet also enjoys spending time with her horse Prairie in the WY backcountry. She is an active member of the Wyoming community serving on several non-profit boards and volunteers as a Hunter Education Instructor for WY Game & Fish and travels globally for Habitat for Humanity. Janet is devoted to mentoring youth in enjoying Wyoming’s outdoors. She is an advocate for Wyoming’s wildlife and public lands for future generations to enjoy hunting, fishing, and hiking. She has a cabin in the Medicine Bow National Forest.

Jim was born and raised in Jackson, Wyoming and his family acquired their cabin in the mid 1980’s.  Jim is a graduate of the University of Montana, Missoula with a degree in Nature Based Tourism.  Jim has had a storied career in everything from Law Enforcement, to Outfitting to Oil and Gas exploration.  Currently, Jim is the Executive Director of a large Non profit Youth Summer Camp in Wyoming.   Jim and his Wife Cora, met in the mountains of western North Carolina, where Jim was teaching Fly Fishing.  Currently Jim, Cora and their three children live in Jackson, Wyoming and enjoy visiting their cabin as much as possible!

Liz Fabrizio (maiden name: Pfadt) grew up in Laramie, Wyoming where her Dad was professor Emeritus at University of Wyoming and her Mom taught thousands of kids music in the Laramie public schools. She graduated from UW with a BS degree in nutrition and dietetics. She obtained a master’s degree from the University of Arizona where she met her husband John Fabrizio. She is the Director of Clinical Nutrition at West Park Hospital in Cody and also works for Billings Clinic proving diabetes education. Her family (husband John, 3 grown children, horses and dogs) love the mountains and have always camped in the surrounding mountains of Cody. Their lifelong dream of owning a cabin came true when they purchased one in 2014 on Pagoda Creek on the North Fork.

Cheryl’s grandfather from Clinton, Utah, discovered the beauty of Wyoming in the 1950’s. He chose a lot on Forest Service land about 10 miles from Pinedale, Wyoming, in the Bridger-Teton National Park, and built a log cabin. Cheryl was old enough to help with the cabin construction and has loved and enjoyed the area ever since. Cheryl lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, a retired English, math, and geography teacher. She has served on the Sylvan Bay Homeowners board of directors since 2010.
