Wyoming Cabin Association

Here is a link to the Bighorn Mountains Cabin Owners Association (BHMCOA) March 2024 newsletter. In particular, it contains some very useful information on “How do I properly store wildlife attractants.”

Welcome Dear Wyoming Cabin Owners.  When a group of us received, via email, the letter from the National Forest Homeowners regarding the dissolving of the Wyoming Cabin Association, we decided to see if we could save the organization.  As you all know, the Wyoming Cabin Association has been a tremendous force in the past in helping to get our cabin fees set in a fair manner under the Cabin Fee Act.  After discussing the possibility of continuing the WCA, I took it upon myself to contact Tessa Johnson and Mike Harokopis to see if they would help us continue the Association.   Mike and Tessa have been tremendous in helping several of us set up the transfer of leadership.  At a Board meeting on March 24th Marilynn Ward, Cathy Lawson, and myself were appointed to the Board.  Following the appointments, elections were held, and George Mathes will serve as president, Marilynn will serve as secretary and Cathy will serve as treasurer.   Mike and Tessa will help out in an advisory capacity. It is our belief that Wyoming cabin owners can be in a stronger position if they have a state organization.

The Wyoming Cabin Association is a non-profit organization, and the dues are only $10.00 per year for an individual and $20.00 for a couple.  The dues can be paid through the use of PayPal, or they can be sent to me at

The National Forest Homeowners is a tremendous organization and can represent us very well at the National level.  However, there are issues that come up in Wyoming and the WCA can help cabin owners through a state approach.  There are always going to be things that come up and sometimes issues in the working relationship between cabin owners and Forest Service may be helped with a State Association.  We currently know that there are issues in the state with water rights, mining claims in cabin areas, logging and forest fire mitigation.  The Wyoming Cabin Association we feel, with your input and support, can bring these issues to the attention of the National Association and relevant State and local agencies. I look forward to serving as your president and, through a strong communication network, I feel we will be strong advocates for the Wyoming Cabin Owners community.  I welcome your thoughts and suggestions. George Mathes, President
